Shanghai Travel - The Huishan Temple is located in the Xihui Park

The Huishan Temple is located in the Xihui Park at the foot of the Huishan Hill in western suburb of Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province. Huishan Hill, also known as Huiquanshan Hill (Hui Spring Hill), is also called Nine Dragon Hill because it has nine mountain ridges,Shanghai Travel, looking like a moving dragon. The Huishan Hill is reputed as the first hill south of the Yangtze River. The Huishan Hill is famous for its springs, among which the most famous one is the second spring under heaven. This spring is divided into three pools: the upper pool, the middle pool and the lower pool. The lower pool is at the entrance, dug in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), with water flowing down from a hole above and then out of the mouth of a stone dragon to the ground. A hall named Qilan (ripples and billows) Hall stands beside the spring, with a Kwan-yin stone erected in front of it. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the stone was moved here from the villa of Gu Kexue, a senior official of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). In the back of the hall is the well-known Erquan Pavilion. The upper pool and the middle pool situate inside and in front of the pavilion respectively, dug during late Dali year (779) of the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The upper pool has an octagonal shape,China Pictures, with the best water quality among the three pools. The middle pool has a shape of asymmetrical square, with its water seeping though the Ruobing Hole. Shanghai Travel - Leshan, called Jiazhou in ancient times, lies at the confluence

Leshan, called Jiazhou in ancient times, lies at the confluence of three rivers -- the Dadu,Shanghai Travel, the Qingyi and the Minjiang. As one of the most culturally developed areas in Sichuan, Leshan is now a national level historical and cultural city. From the objects unearthed from the 10,000 cliff tombs of the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD), one can look into the social and cultural development levels in the Leshan area at that time. Of these excavated articles, relic of Han Dynasty litterateur Guo Sheren annotating Er Ya , an early dictionary, in Wuyou Mountain is the most representative. In the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the Giant Buddha was constructed in Leshan. In the Song Dynasty (960-1279), Leshan fostered three most outstanding celebrities: Su Dongpo, his father and his younger brother. China Pictures - The Changle Palace was built in the southeast of the city

Each gate was connected to the streets,China Pictures, ensuring a convenient traffic. The city had eight main avenues, with the longest one of 5,500 meters long and 45 meters wide. Each street was divided into three ways, with the middle one only used by the emperor himself and the side ones for ordinary citizens. Various kinds of trees, such as pagoda tree, elm, pine, and cypress, grew along both sides of the streets, which divided the city into regular-shaped residential and downtown areas. During its most flourishing period, Chang'an City had a population of 240,000 of 88,000 households. It was the first large-scale and densely populated city in Chinese history. ¡¡¡¡ ¡¡¡¡Palaces, residences for nobles, official residences, and temples were the main constructions inside the city. The Changle Palace was built in the southeast of the city, hence it was also known as the East Palace. In the early Han Dynasty, emperors used the palace to receive officials and Emperor Huidi changed it into the residential palace for the queen mother. Surrounded by walls with a perimeter of 10,000 meters, the palace took an irregular shape and covered an area of 6 square kilometers,Shanghai Travel, occupying nearly 1/6 of the total city area. Covering an area of 5 square kilometers, the palace had a square shape, with walls built on four sides, of which the east and the west walls were 2150 meters long each, and the south and the north ones 2250 long each. A gate was open on each of the four sides. The east and north gates each had a watchtower, and the east one was open for the feudal princes who wanted to meet with the emperor while the north one was for ordinary people. Inside the palace were over 40 halls and pavilions, including the front hall, Xuanshi Hall, Wenshi Hall, Qingliang Hall, Qilin Hall, Jinhua Hall, and Chengming Hall, etc. Once occupied by emperors of 7 dynasties, namely the Western Han, Western Jin, Former Zhao, pre-Qin, post-Qin, Western Wei, and Northern Zhou successively, the palace has become the most famous one in Chinese history. Shanghai Travel - Yaowang Mountain is 2 km east of the county seat of Yaoxian County

Yaowang Mountain is 2 km east of the county seat of Yaoxian County,Shanghai Travel, Shanxi Province. Yaowang Mountain was called "Panyu Mountain" in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). It is 1,100 m above sea level and is formed by five peaks connecting one with another, so it was also called "Wutai Mountain" (Mountain of Five Peaks) from the Song (960-1279) to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The mountain is high but not dangerous, full of green pines and verdant cypresses, with towering ancient trees, being always a famous scenic spot in central China. Its naming of "Yaowang Mountain" has something to do with Sun Simiao, the famous medical scientist of the Tang Dynasty. Sun Simiao (581-682), born in Yaoxian County, was world famous because of his monumental works in medical science such as Qianjin Yaofang (Prescriptions Worth One Thousand Pieces of Gold), Qianjin Yifang (Supplement to Prescriptions Worth One Thousand Pieces of Gold), etc. He wrote thirty books (more than a million words) in his life, and was renowned as "Yaowang" (King of Medicines). Later generations built a Yaowang Temple on Panyu Mountain to commemorate him, hence the name of the mountain. On Yaowang Mountain, you can find stone inscriptions everywhere, and they chiefly fall into such two categories: steles and stone caves. There are more than a hundred steles, and the most precious one is the group of five steles with Qianjin Yaofang inscribed on them, made in the sixth year (1572) of the Longqing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), which is valuable data for the study on traditional Chinese medicine. The stone caves were all chiseled during the period from the Tang to the Sui Dynasty (581-618), and the extant ones are 7, containing more than 40 Buddha statues. Moreover, among the chain of mountains are preserved 66 statue steles from the Northern Wei (386-534) to the Tang Dynasty, called "Stele Forest of the Medical World". There is a well-preserved Yaowang Temple on the mountain, which was built in the 37th year (1558) of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty, but kept the architectural styles of the Jin (1115-1234) and Yuan (1271-1368) dynasties.
